Think And Grow Rich Summary

Think And Grow Rich Summary

What are the main points of “Think and Grow Rich”?

1. Attitudes are the result of your thoughts;
2. Know what you want and have a fire in your belly;
3. You are the product of your thoughts, so believe in yourself.
4. Specialized knowledge as a “power potential”
5. Shared planning and a contact network;
6. The procedure for making decisions;
7. Persistence, subconsciousness, and options

Principle 1 – Desire
To attract what you want, you must first cultivate a desire for it. A burning desire, to be precise. You must desire it viscerally and then create a vision of your life in which you have it. The desire must be strong enough to keep you going even when things get tough.

Faith is the second principle.
Once you’ve decided what you want, you must have faith in the process. Faith is a ‘eternal elixir that gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought,’ according to Napoleon Hill. It elevates your ordinary thoughts into a spiritual force that fuels your communion with Infinite Intelligence.

Self-Suggestion is the third principle:
If you want to increase your faith, you must control your self-talk. Self-talk refers to the words and mental scripts you tell yourself, such as “I struggle for money and will never be wealthy” or “I easily attract plenty of money.” Your self-talk begins in your conscious, thinking mind, but if you repeat a phrase enough times in your head, it seeps into your subconscious. Hill refers to this as ‘autosuggestion.’

Knowledge is the fourth principle.
The fourth of Think and Grow Rich’s thirteen principles is that, contrary to popular belief, knowledge is not power. When knowledge is organised and intelligently directed through practical plans of action, it attracts abundance. A knowledge-based action plan is necessary, but not sufficient. You must also believe that your strategy will produce the desired results. This is accomplished by drawing on the collective experience of those who have already achieved the success you seek.

5th Principle – Imagination
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve,” according to one of Napoleon Hill’s most famous quotes. Begin with an idea if you want to attract abundance. The ability to use your imagination to see a mental image of what you want initiates the creation process. What you desire can range from a large house on the beach to a job that excites you every morning. Dream big, and have complete faith that Infinite Intelligence will do everything in its power to make your most vivid fantasies a reality.

Planning is the sixth principle.
The first thing you do when you decide to go on a road trip is enter your destination into the navigation system. Perhaps you’ll consult a map to determine the best route to your destination. A well-defined plan for achieving your goals is just as important as knowing which roads to take on your journey. However, just like on a road trip, you will occasionally take a wrong turn and deviate from the correct path. That is why it is critical not only to plan ahead of time, but also to course-correct when things go wrong. The sooner you correct your course, the sooner you will arrive at your destination.

Decision is the seventh principle.
A vague wish is the polar opposite of a firm decision. Everyone desires more money, free time, and love. When you only have a hazy idea of what you want, you can’t tap into Infinite Intelligence’s storehouse of power. People who lack a clear purpose procrastinate and delay achieving their goals, because you can’t hit a target that you can’t even see.

Persistence is the eighth principle.
We all have ups and downs like a roller coaster. Some days you feel like you’re flying like a bird. On some days, you’re the statue. It appears that the latter is more common than the former at times. When faced with difficulty, a temporary setback, or rejection, the simplest and most common response is to quit. When you’re feeling down, instead of giving up, double down and persevere.

Transmutation is the tenth principle.
Another of the secrets hidden within this success system can be found here. Certain emotions elicit a mental state that allows access to Infinite Intelligence. Every emotion has a vibration, and in order to be in tune with the universal mind, you must be resonating at the same frequency as what you desire. That is, if you want the Infinite Intelligence to give you more money, you must first feel abundant. Use strong positive emotions to cause your mind to oscillate at a higher frequency, allowing you to ask for and receive what you truly desire.

Subconscious Mind (Principle 11)
The powerhouse of your mental activity is your subconscious mind. It has control over every vital function occurring in your miraculous body and brain. The subconscious mind is constantly at work, processing material, energy, and thought and transforming it into living tissue in order to sustain life. The subconscious is also the part of the mind that materialises ideas, plans, dreams, and desires.

The Brain
Hill principle asserts that the brain is similar to a radio. Your brain, like a radio, operates at specific frequencies. These frequencies are emotions in your brain: love, hate, despair, fear, confidence, and more. Only when the transmitter and receiver are set to the same frequency can a radio produce sound. Similarly, if you want your brain to provide wealth, you must ensure that your emotions reflect that frequency. If your brain is tuned to a frequency of despair and poverty, that is all you will be able to manifest through the Infinite Intelligence, because that is the only signal the Infinite Intelligence sends that you will be able to receive.

Sixth Sense Principle 13
This is the pinnacle of the Think and Grow Rich philosophy. Understanding the other twelve principles completely prepares you to receive guidance from an infallible source. In particular, Infinite Intelligence. When you receive guidance from this source, it’s almost as if you develop a sixth sense that guides you to take the steps necessary to manifest your desires with pinpoint accuracy. In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill introduces the concept of a “secret” that, once discovered and applied, will literally sweep followers of this system on to success.
